Equipment Needed

  • Air Fryer (Basket or oven style)

  • Cutting board & sharp knife (or kitchen shears)

  • 2 medium mixing bowls

  • Tongs

  • Pastry brush (optional)

  • Small ziplock bag (for tossing the bites cleanly)

Ingredients

For the Biscuit Bites

  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated flaky buttermilk biscuits (e.g., Grands! or store brand)

  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt (enhances the sweetness)

For the Vanilla Drizzle (Optional but Recommended)

  • 1/2 cup powdered (confectioners’) sugar

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons whole milk or heavy cream

  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Step-by-Step Instructions

1.Prep the Air Fryer & Cinnamon Coating:2 minutes.

Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes. In a medium bowl or a sealable gallon-sized plastic bag, whisk together the 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon, and 1/8 tsp sea salt. Set aside.

2.Cut the Biscuit Dough:3 minutes.

Pop open the can of refrigerated biscuits and separate the individual biscuit rounds. Place them flat on a clean cutting board. Using a chef’s knife, pizza cutter, or kitchen shears, cut each biscuit into 4 equal quarter-pieces. You will end up with 32 bite-sized dough pieces. Gently roll each piece between your palms to round off any sharp corners.

3.Air Fry to Golden Perfection:6 to 8 minutes.

Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray or line with air-fryer parchment paper. Place the dough bites into the basket in a single layer, leaving about 1/2 inch of space between each piece so the hot air can circulate freely.

Note: Cook in two batches of 16 pieces if your basket is smaller to avoid overcrowding.

Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 6 to 8 minutes, shaking the basket gently halfway through cooking. The bites are ready when they are puffed, light, and golden brown on all sides.

4.Coat with Butter & Cinnamon Sugar:3 minutes.

Melt the 1/4 cup butter in a small bowl. Immediately upon removing the hot biscuit bites from the air fryer, transfer them to a mixing bowl.

Pour the melted butter over the warm bites and gently toss with tongs to coat evenly. Next, transfer the buttered bites directly into the cinnamon-sugar mixture (or into the gallon bag). Shake gently until every piece is fully encrusted with sweet cinnamon sugar.

5.Glaze & Serve Hot:2 minutes.

In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 tbsp milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth. Add an extra teaspoon of milk if needed to reach a drizzling consistency.

Arrange the warm cinnamon sugar bites on a serving platter and drizzle the glaze over the top using a spoon or fork. Serve immediately while warm!

Oven Baking Alternative

If you do not have an air fryer, you can easily bake these in a standard oven:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Arrange the cut biscuit bites on the sheet, leaving 1 inch of space between each piece.

  3. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until light golden brown.

  4. Brush with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar immediately after taking them out of the oven.

Chef Tips for Success

Don’t Overcrowd the Basket: Air fryers rely on rapid air circulation to make foods crispy. If the biscuit bites are piled on top of each other, they will steam rather than brown properly.

  • Make Them Extra Decadent: For a churro-style twist, add a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg or ground cardamom to the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  • Dipping Sauces: Instead of drizzling the glaze, serve it on the side as a dip. Warm salted caramel, chocolate sauce, or cream cheese frosting also pair wonderfully.

  • How to Store & Reheat: These bites are best served fresh and warm. However, leftover bites can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. To reheat, pop them back into the air fryer at 320°F (160°C) for 2 minutes to restore their crispiness.
